CDX+ Online Launcher & IT Systems Configuration
Installing CDX software on your PC is a 3 step process, and each step is covered by a support article:
1. Review the “Minimum Requirements” to ensure your PC is appropriately configured 2. Install the CDX Software 3. Activating your PC software by using the license key at came with your disks to retrieve an unlock key
Installing the software on a server to serve attached PCs requires 2 additional steps:
1. Sharing the software on the server by mapping the network drive 2. Installing a shortcut on the desktop
This article contains information about the Minimum System Requirements for CDX GS 3.0 and 3.1 installed on a PC or on a network.
Note: You will need to use the license key on the original DVD case to retrieve an activation code from CDX to unlock the software for each PC on which you intend to use the software.
Note: The server on which the software is installed does not need to be activated unless it is also being used by instructors or students as a workstation.
Minimum System Requirements:
1. Login as local administrator, with rights to install software 2. 8 Gigabytes of free space 3. Windows XP SP2 or later 4. Pentium 4 (or equivalent) or better 5. Sufficient RAM for the Operating System 6. Minimum monitor resolution of 1024x768 7. A DVD-ROM Drive for installing the software 8. Sound card and either speakers or headphones 9. Internet Explorer 6.5 or later 10. Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 or later 11. Macromedia Flash Player 7 or later
You can only access CDX Online using the CDX Plus Launcher, and you, or your IT Department, may need to modify the security settings to allow access to the CDX content. The following instructions provide details of these modifications while maintaining the integrity of your institution's internet security. Most users are able to install and use CDX Online from home without requiring any modifications to their security settings.
However, security settings within your institution may require you to specifically allow this program to run, allow it to access the internet, and permit access to certain file types. You can maintain the integrity of your institution's internet security policy by only permitting these file types from the specific URLs identified below.
Installation within a secure environment will require Administrator rights on the PC. You may need to contact your IT Department to review your virus checking strategies with reference to the following installation instructions.
Note: You may want to exclude virus checking for known file types originating from these specific URLs to minimize the impact on performance.
