CDX Installation & Activation: Reimaging & Reboot to Restore programs.
This article discusses implementing and managing CDX software with 'reboot to restore' programs such as Deep Freeze, and with 'reimaging' programs. Please be aware that this information should be directed to your IT system administrator. If you would like further information about this above, please contact us at: support@cdxglobal.com
Reimaging programs.
Many schools and university campuses regularly reimage computers to remove any kind of changes to the system, and return them to their default settings. Simply performing a reimage of a computer will almost certainly break the activation of your CDX software, and require you to contact CDX Global Customer Support to reset your licenses. Before you perform a reimage of your computers, please ensure you have done the following:
1. Created an image that contains an unactivated installation of your CDX software, 2. Performed a deactivation of the CDX software on each activated computer, 3. Have a copy of your license software and user IDs handy,
Note: Once you have reimaged your computers, you will need to reactivate your CDX software on each computer.
Reboot to Restore programs.
Programs such as Deep Freeze allow a system administrator to lock down and 'freeze' a computer in its current status, blocking the users ability to make any significant changes to a computer system. Many schools and university campuses use this kind of software, which can interfere with user's ability to perform an installation and activation of CDX programs.
Depending on the nature of your program, you may be blocked from installing the program entirely, or simply have the program 'disappear' the next time you login to the computer. If you're installing this software on a computer that uses reboot to restore programs such as Deep Freeze, you will need to speak to your system administrator about unfreezing the computer so that you can install and activate this software.
