CDX ARK+ PC: Installation Instructions

Installing CDX software on your PC is a 3 step process, and each step is covered by a support article:

1.       Review the “Minimum Requirements” to ensure your PC is appropriately configured

2.       Install the CDX Software

3.       Activating your PC software by using the license key at came with your disks to retrieve an unlock key

Installing the software on a server to serve attached PCs requires 2 additional steps

1.       Sharing the software on the server by mapping the network drive

2.       Installing a shortcut on the desktop.

This article contains information about installing ARK Plus on a PC or on a network. 

Note: You will need to use the license key on the original DVD case to retrieve an activation code from CDX to unlock the software for each PC on which you intend to use the software.

Note: The server on which the software is installed does not need to be activated unless it is also being used by instructors or students as a workstation.

If you intend to use this software on more than one PC we strongly recommend a Server Installation.

Installation time will depend on the speed of your DVD-Drive.  Installation may take a considerable amount of time due to the large amount of CDX video.

Installation Procedure: 

1. Start the Installation.

Insert CDX ARK Plus disc 1. This will load the install program. Click the 'Next' button to proceed with the installation. Note that you must have a DVD-ROM drive, the installation program will not load on a CD-ROM only drive.

2. Read the End-User License Agreement.



Read the End-User License Agreement, check 'I agree the terms in the License Agreement' to indicate you agree to the terms of the license agreement, and click the 'Next' button to proceed.

3. Choose your Installation Type.



Choose your Installation Type by clicking either 'Stand Alone PC Install' for a single installation, or 'Server Install' for a networked lan installation.

4. Choose an Installation Path.



The recommended installation path is C:\Program Files\CDX Global\CDX Ark Plus (this is default). When you have selected an installation path, click the 'Next' button to proceed. Please be aware that you will need approx 20Gb of available space for a full installation. Ensure that your hard drive has enough free space when you select a location to install the software.

5. Confirm the Installation.



Confirm the installation by clicking the 'Install' button.

6. Installation in Progress.



Please wait while the installation copies the program, inserting each DVD-ROM disc when prompted. Click the 'OK' button when you have inserted the new DVD-ROM, and the drive has finished reading the disc. Please be aware this may take a considerable amount of time.

7. Complete the Installation.



When the install program has finished, click the 'Finish' button to complete the installation. You can then launch CDX ARK Plus and activate the software if this is a single user installation.

If you are installing the Automotive Resource Kit from version 4.00 discs, you should download and install the version 4.11 update.
