CDX+ Online: Firewall Blocking Content In The Browser
Some users have experienced a problem with their firewall blocking content with CDX Plus programs. When some schools use a firewall to control internet access, this can block the CDX Plus program from being able to correctly access external resources.
Note: See the article on Running the CDX Diagnostic Program. There are several solutions for this problem:
Bypassing the firewall for specific programs. CDX Plus accesses the CDX content in much the same way as Internet Explorer accesses a website. Using a firewall can block access to the content when the CDX Plus program attempts to communicate with the CDX server via the internet. Depending on the capabilities of your firewall program, it may allow you to authorize a program to bypass the firewall setting. Alternatively you can input the 'CDXPlus.exe' program into the firewall exemptions list. You should also have implemented the following list of allowable URLs:
1. cdxplus.com 2. cartman.cdxplus.com 3. cdxplus.net 4. cdxhosting.com 5. cdx-online.com 6. cdxetextbook.com 7. audiovideoweb.com 8. websrvr83il.audiovideoweb.com
Please also be aware that you may need to restart the client computer and/or firewall server for these changes to take effect.
Disabling the firewall setting to confirm the problem. If you can't manage to allow access for your CDX Plus program, you may wish to consider briefly disabling your firewall settings. This will allow you to investigate whether the firewall is blocking access for CDX Plus, or if your network proxy server and/or CDX Plus program is in error. Please also note that doing this may prevent your internet and services from functioning properly, and your should consult your System Administrator before attempting this procedure.
Note: You may wish to consider setting up the program on a freshly installed stand-alone PC that doesn't use a firewall to help us diagnose the problem. Doing this will help us better determine the nature of the problem.
